The Sabarmati Report
Story
The 2024 Indian Hindi-language political drama film “The Sabarmati Report” is inspired by the tragic Godhra train burning incident of February 27, 2002. It follows Samar Kumar (played by Vikrant Massey), a Hindi journalist, who is recruited by Mahika Rajpurohit (Riddhi Dogra), a hard-nosed journalist working for an English news channel, to investigate the incident. As they dig deeper, they find out there’s a lot more to it than meets the eye, with all sorts of political conspiracies and media biases. The film shows how tricky it is for journalists to get to the truth when there’s all this political pressure and media hype going on. It also looks at the different ways Hindi and English news reporting works in India, how victims’ families are trying to get justice,e and how that’s affected the whole society.
Dheeraj Sarna directed the film, and Raashii Khanna stars as Amrita Gill, a journalist. The film had a pretty good idea at its heart, but critics didn’t love it, and it didn’t do well at the box office.
